Obituary of Florence E. Harvey

Age 91, of Mt. Morris died Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at her home. The funeral service will take place 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 27, 2016, at the Mt. Morris Community Church. Elder Dave Heggan will officiate with burial to follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Flint. Florence’s family will be present to receive friends at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Genesee Township on Thursday, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and on Friday, from 12:00 noon until 8:00 pm. On Saturday morning, Florence will be taken to church to lie in state from 12:00 noon until time of service at 1:00 pm. Florence was born April 3, 1924, in Millington, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Jefferson and Mary Ann (Oliver) Bigelow. Florence graduated from Millington High School, Class of 1943. She and Mark Harvey were united in marriage on May 25, 1945, by his father, Rev. Charles Harvey on her parent’s farm in Millington. Sadly, Mark preceded her in death on March 17, 2005. In her free time, Florence enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, growing African Violets, playing the piano, gardening, dressing up for Halloween, teaching Sunday school and traveling to Traverse City. Left to cherish her memory, four children: David Harvey, Diane (Claude) Shoens, Denise (Eugene) Thompson and Duane (Twila) Harvey; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lavina Glynn; and many other family members and friends. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mark, daughter Dolores, brother Edmond, two sisters: Margaret and Norma.
