Obituary of James Joseph Allen

Age 72, of Grand Blanc, died Friday, February 19, 2016 at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 am, Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Grand Blanc. Rev. Fr. Gary Koenigsknecht will officiate with cremation to follow. Mr. Allen’s family will be present to receive friends at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services, 8253 S. Saginaw St. in Grand Blanc on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm. On Tuesday evening, family, friends and parish will gather at the funeral home to Pray the Rosary at 7:00 pm. On Wednesday morning, Jim will be taken to church to lie in state from 9:30 am until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to American Kidney Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Jim was born April 24, 1943, in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark, Sr. and Margaret (Lowell) Allen. Growing up in Mt. Morris, Jim attended and graduated from St. Mary Catholic School, with the class of 1962. He had a passion for business and people, which led him to a career in both commercial and residential real estate for over 30 years. In his free time he enjoyed golfing, keeping track of Notre Dame sports, and, most importantly, spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He always made time to be at their important events. He was especially proud of providing a college education for all of his children. His giving nature and generosity will always be remembered. Left to cherish his memory are: Beloved wife and partner, Carol (Blough) Allen of over 50 years; four children; Lisa and husband, Jeff Monro, Scott and wife, Adrienne Allen, Trisha and husband, Kevin Strickland and Jenelle and husband, Adam Watkins, 14 grandchildren, brothers and sisters: Mark, Jr. and wife, JoAnn Allen, Greg Allen and girlfriend, Gail Smith and Paula and husband, Kerry Serven and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
