Age 91, of Flint died Friday, February 5, 2016 at Fostrian Manor in Flushing. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nennau officiating with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Jane’s family will be present to receive friends on Monday, from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm. On Tuesday morning, Jane will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of Mass at 11:00 am. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to St. Mary Catholic Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Jane was born November 4, 1924, on the family farm in Maple Grove Twp; the daughter Mr. & Mrs. Neal and Edith (Firestein) Bitterman. Educated locally in Maple Grove, graduating with the Class of 1942. As a young woman she met Joseph Calcagno, Jr. the couple dated, fell in love and were united in marriage on November 28, 1952. Sadly, Joseph preceded her in death on May 28, 1999. She would later meet Guy Withey; they too dated, fell in love and were united in marriage on December 17, 2005. Jane was a hardworking, determined woman that worked as an Avon salesperson from 1962 until 2004; receiving numerous awards. She was also a loving mother and wife that enjoyed taking care of her home, gardening, hunting and fishing, golfing and traveling to Las Vegas and California.
Left to cherish her memory: husband Guy Withey; two children: Timothy and wife, Karen Calcagno, and Deborah and husband, David Campbell; four grandchildren: Vanessa Campbell, Christen Calcagno, Ian Campbell and Nicholas Calcagno; two great-grandchildren: Alex and Toban Campbell; sister, Jeanette Klein and many other family members.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Joseph, grandson Joseph, and seven siblings.
