Obituary of Glenn Harland Roth, Sr.

Age 80, of Clio, formerly of Mt. Morris, died Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Medilodge of Montrose. Funeral services will take place 3:00 pm, Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Rev. Michael Vogt will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Glenn’s family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Friday from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm and again on Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of service at 3:00 pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Leader Dogs for the Blind. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Glenn was born November 18, 1935, in Flint, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Glenn and Marie Ellen (Burnham) Roth. He and JoAnn Sharkey were united in marriage in 1961 in Mt. Morris. She preceded him in death on December 18, 1988. A few years later, he would meet and marry Veronica Thomas on April 18, 1992 in Flint. Glenn served his country in the US Army from 1958 to 1960, stationed in Germany. He worked for the Beecher Water and Sewer Department for 27 years, prior to retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Auto City Eagles Aerie #3485 and very devoted to the Beecher Lions Club. A few of Glenn’s hobbies were hunting, bowling and woodworking, and he enjoyed the outdoors. Left to cherish his memory are: his wife of 23 years, Veronica Roth, children; Glenn H., Jr. and wife Dena Roth, Jeffrey N. and wife Peggy Roth, James J. and wife Kim Roth, Karyn and husband Anthony Miltich III and Patrick and wife Danette Alles, stepchildren, Becky and Frank, 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, four brothers; Fredrick and wife Shirley Roth, Clarence Roth, Christopher and wife Barbara Roth and Lawrence and wife Sharon Roth, two sisters, Carolyn and husband Charles Watkins and Mary and husband Larry Cross, two sisters-in-law, Janice Roth and Sue Roth, and many nieces and nephews. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, wife JoAnn, two brothers; Leroy and Leslie, two sisters; Elizabeth and Donna and two brothers-in-law, Chuck and Orvil, and two step children Linda and Chuckie. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Joseph Varghese and staff as well as the staff at Medilodge of Montrose for the care and compassion shown to Glenn.
