Obituary of Patricia A. (Mitchell) Scranton

Age 87, died at 7:32 pm at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Ft. Wayne, Indiana, on December 8, 2015. A funeral service for Patricia was held on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Smith & Brown Funeral Home in Hicksville, Ohio. A private committal service will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of Christ in Hicksville, Ohio. Patricia was born in Hicksville, Ohio on January 31, 1928, to the late William Jr. and Madonna (Warner) Clark. Mrs. Scranton was a 1945 graduate of Hicksville High School and a 1949 graduate of Bowling Green State University where she studied for a career as a school teacher. She married Donald R. Mitchell in 1949. He preceded her in death January 8, 2001. During their 52 years of marriage she spent over 30 years teaching school in Michigan, Florida and Spain. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Hicksville. Patricia married again on April 24, 2009, to retired Navy Commander, Herbert Scranton and he survives her. She is also survived by one daughter Dawn (Larry) Johnson of Bel Air, MD, two sons, John (Laurie) Mitchell of Linden MI, and Scott (Karen) Mitchell of Holmes Beach FL, eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
