Obituary of Ashlyn Mooney
Ashlyn Gail Mooney, age 9, of Mt. Morris, left us for Heaven on Wednesday, December 2, 2015. A Celebration of Ashlyn’s Life will take place 11:00 am, Monday, December 7, 2015 at the Berean Baptist Church in Grand Blanc. Pastor Robert Dickie will officiate with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Ashlyn’s family will be present to receive friends at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris on Saturday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Sunday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm. On Monday morning, Ashlyn will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the family fund or to the GoFundMe account listed at Ashlyn Mooney’s Celebration of Life. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Ashlyn was born May 8, 2006 in Grand Blanc the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew and Jennifer (Compton) Mooney. She was in fourth grade at Montague Elementary School in Mt. Morris. Ashlyn enjoyed playing volleyball, AYSO soccer, softball and had just recently learned to ride her bike. She liked Minions, Monster High Dolls and loved Olaf. Some of her favorite places to go were Michigan Adventure and Bronners, and she’d also traveled to Branson, Missouri with her family. Ashlyn also loved Hot Cheetos and pickles. She was bubbly, goofy, happy, loving, caring and kind, and her loss will leave a hole in our lives forever.
Left to cherish her memory are: her parents, Matthew and Jennifer Mooney, four sisters, Allisha, Alexis, Amelia and Alayna, grandparents, Craig and Debbie Carlton, Carolyn Morgan and Bruce and Karen Compton, great-grandparents, Glen Carlton, William and Beverly Minzey, Yvonne Compton and Annie Carlton, aunts and uncles, Jamie and Kristi Compton, Jessica and Dan Huber, Jarod and Courtnea Carlton, Michael and Candace Mooney-Smathers, Wayne and Vicki Melanson and Temple Melanson, special friends, Samara, Julia, Aubrey and Mercedes.
Ashlyn was preceded in death by her great-grandparents.
