Obituary of Richard Owen Young

Of Mt. Morris, age 58, died Saturday, October 24, 2015, surrounded by his family and close friends. Funeral service will take place Thursday, October 29, 2015, at 1:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home, Cremation & Tribute Services-Genesee Township. Pastor Dale Lewis to officiate, with burial to follow in Mt. Morris Cemetery. Richard’s family will receive friends at the funeral home, on Wednesday, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm; Thursday, from 10:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. Funeral Dinner to follow at Mt. Morris Auto City Eagles Club at 4:00 pm, the family asks that guests bring a dish to pass. Richard was born in Flint, on August 21, 1957, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy and Catherine (Blackmer) Young. Richard graduated from Mt. Morris High School, Class of 1976. At the age of 18, he became the youngest journeyman pipefitter of the State of Michigan, and went on to join the UA Local #370 Plumbers and Pipefitters. Richard was a hardworking man some would call him a workaholic and he was always finding something to work on around his home. He was one of kind and always accepted everyone for who they were, he was looked up to by many and will truly be missed. Left to cherish his memory his best friend and love of his life of 15 years, Jennifer Bland; the mother of his children, Penny Young; his children; Richie Young and fiancé, Mallory, Jennifer and husband, Brian Kindlinger, Erik Tyree, Lance Sullivan, Shawn Murray, Justin Bland, and Cody Bland; Parents: Leroy and Catherine Young; four grandchildren; Garrett, Luna, Bowen and Bre. Brother; Leroy and wife, Wendy Young; sister; Kathi and husband, Gerard Hildebrandt; nephews; Troy Young, Joshua Young, Jerry Hildenbrandt, and Randy and wife, Phyllis Stebbins, and many close friends. Richard was preceded in death by his sister Beatrice Stebbins, and his uncle Wayne Blackmer.
