Obituary of Dennis Wayne Carpenter

Of Mt. Morris, age 67 died Thursday, October 15, 2015, at Maple Woods Manor. Mass of Christian burial will take place 12:00 pm, Monday, October 19, 2015, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mt. Morris, Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau officiating with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. Dennis’ family will be present at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris, on Sunday from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm. On Monday morning, Dennis will be taken to church to lie in state from 11:00 am until time of service at 12:00 Noon. Dennis was born July 16, 1948 in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie and Doris (Schenk) Carpenter. Dennis graduated from Flushing High School in 1969. He went on to work for 34 years at McLaren-Flint as a grounds keeper where he met the love of his life Janene. Dennis and Janene were united in marriage August 25, 1973 at St. Vienna Church in Clio. He enjoyed going fishing and loved tending to his garden he was always planting new flowers. Dennis was a wonderful person and will be missed by many. Left to cherish his memory his wife of 42 years, Janene Carpenter; brother Kenneth and wife Joanne Carpenter; five sisters-in-law Charmaine and husband Mark Monson, Rachelle and husband Keith Powell, Marcilene and husband Alvin Schwab, Chontae and Alan Belville, Valerie and husband Donald Pittman; brother-in-law Eugene Mattison. Many nieces and nephews. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents. Dennis’ family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Maple Woods Manor for their loving care and also Heartland Hospice.
