Obituary of Elaine A. Smith

Age 77, of Lupton, Michigan, died October 2, 2015, at Owosso Memorial Hospital. The funeral services will be held 1:00 pm, Thursday, October 8, 2015, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation And Tribute Services in Genesee Twp. Burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Elaine’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 12:00 noon until 8:00 pm; Thursday, from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Elaine was born April 9, 1938, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. LaRoy and Rosanna (Nichols) Burns. She attended school at Flint Northern and later married Robert Smith on April 30, 1955, in Indiana. Elaine retired from Montague Tool & Die as a machine operator. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, crocheting, spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing. She also enjoyed doing puzzles and gardening. Left to cherish her memory are five children: Allan (Joanne) Smith, Gloria Cates, Cynthia Smith, Joseph Smith and Marie Hill; she proudly adopted her three youngest grandchildren: Jessica, Camie, and Michael Smith; grandchildren: Edward Bangs, Rachel (Brian) Cotterman, Bradley Knack; Carrie Smith, Terra (Nick) Jenkins, Colton and Conor Smith; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Jacqueline Pelch; and brother, Robert (Gerri) Burns. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, brothers: Richard and Glen, four sisters: Alberta, Gladys, Delores and Ruth Ann and two grandchildren: Jennifer Knack and Nicholas Manley.
