Obituary of Joann Alexander (Goodman)

Age 77, of Mt. Morris died Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Hyde-Park Memory Care of Flushing, MI. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Martin Funeral, Cremation and Tribute services at 11:00 am with Garfield Cooper to officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Morris Cemetery. There will be a visitation held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Wednesday from 12:00 pm until 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and Thursday from 10:00 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joann’s name to Alzheimer’s Association. Mrs. Alexander was born July 31, 1938 in Mount Morris, MI. She is the daughter of the late John and the late Geraldine (Edwards) Goodman. Joann married Harold Alexander on September 14, 1956. She graduated from Mount Morris High School in 1956, and resided in Mount Morris for her whole life. Joann was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting and spending time with her family and friends. She was a long time member of the Mount Morris Church of Christ, and was involved in bible study at her church. Joann loved being a part of the Mount Morris community. She is survived by her three daughters: Wendy and husband Howard Ylinen, Marcy and husband Christopher Bowman, Brenda and husband James Platt; sister: Janice Davis; nine grandchildren: Mark Lepage, Angela Ylinen, Christian Bowman, Adam Bowman, Morgan Platt, Luke Bowman, Matthew Platt, Hannah Bowman, Micah Platt; and special friend Gloria Yettaw. Joann’s family would like the give a special thanks to the staff at Hyde-Park Memory Care, and the staff at Heartland Hospice. Joann was preceded in death by her husband Harold, parents, and Sister Geraldine Storbeck.
