Obituary of Deloris Churchill

Age 83, of Lapeer Township, formerly of Flint, Davison, and Mount Morris, died Thursday, August 27, 2015 at home surrounded by her family. The funeral will be held on Monday August 31, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services – Genesee Township, 1194 E. Mt. Morris Rd., Mount Morris, MI with Pastor Barbara Benjamin officiating. Burial will follow in Crestwood Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation held at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Deloris Churchill to Mt. Morris United Methodist Church or Elba United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Deloris was born in Genesee Township, Michigan on December 29, 1931, the daughter of the late Lyman and Alice (Hill) Thompson. She was a graduate of the class of 1950 for Kearsley High School. Deloris married Harold R. Churchill on June 20, 1953. He predeceased her on May 10, 2004. Most her life was spent raising and enjoying her family. Deloris retired from AC after many years of service, she later worked Tuar (TGI Direct). She was very active in many ministries and held lay leadership positions in the United Methodist Church in Davison, Mount Morris and Elba and had been a Girl Scout Leader for many years. Deloris was a fan of the Detroit Tigers, enjoyed reading and watching TV, especially cowboy books, movies, and shows. Deloris is survived by her children; Scott (Lynda) Churchill, Sr. of Indianapolis IN and Robin (Ken) DuCap of Lapeer MI, grandchildren; Laura (Rob) Hood, Scott (Nanci) Churchill, Jr., Catherine Churchill, Carrie Ann (Matthew) Sartor, April (Tim) Sartor, Jay (Sarah) DuCap, great grandchildren; Ashley (Adrian) Miles, Avery, Abbie & Zachary Churchill, Jacob, Jeremiah, Joslin & Joshua Sartor, Benjamin & Nathan Sartor, Aiden, Owen & Charlotte DuCap, great great granddaughters; Alexis and Ava Miles, siblings; Dale Thompson, Doreen (George) Gawthrop, Joan (Butch) Myrick, Linda Gallus, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends made during her later years through her church affiliations. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings; Larry (Lola) Thompson and Barbara Boone, and brother-in-law; John Gallus.
