Obituary of Shirley Ann (McKerchie) Young

Of Birch Run, age 77, died Thursday, August 6, 2015. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at Martin Funeral, Cremation and Tribute Services in Genesee Township. Pastor Ron Lucas officiating with burial will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Shirley's family will be present at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be directed towards the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, 2312 Lapeer Rd, Flint MI, 48503. Shirley was born November 24, 1937, to the late Albert and Louise (Talentino) McKerchie, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She has two brothers; William McKerchie (Marilyn) and Doug McKerchie, and a sister, Darlene (Barry) Graham. She and Richard Young were united in marriage on January 27, 1957 in Sault Ste. Marie. Together they had three children; Greg Young, Mark Young, and Heather Hall. Over the years, the family would expand to include three grandchildren; Monte (Kimberlee), Cassandra, and Mark Cameron, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Shirley was the owner and operator of O’Tooles Restaurant in Swartz Creek for 37 years. Shirley was well known for and enjoyed cooking, she loved spending time with family and friends, vacationing in Sault Ste. Marie, and listening to country music. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents.
