Obituary of James C. Sherman

Age 76 of Gladwin formerly of Clio died Monday, July 20, 2015, surrounded by his family at his son’s home. Funeral will take place at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Martin Funeral, Cremation, & Tribute Services in Genesee Township. Pastor Ted Stephens will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Wednesday from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. James was born February 7, 1939, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John and Winifred (King) Sherman. Growing up in Flint, James was educated locally, graduating in 1957 from Northern High School. James married Sharon Lybarker on May 2, 1964, in Flint, Michigan. He was a member of the Eagles, VFW, American Legion, and Masons Lodge 397 in Gladwin. He worked for Ternstedt and Fisher Body for 30 years. James enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting all over northern Michigan. Left to cherish his memory are his children; John Sherman and wife Jennifer, Shelly Sedlarik and husband Dan, Susanne Cornell and husband Thomas, two sisters; Lois Tinnin and husband Mel, Nelda Hunt, five grandchildren; Charlie, Aimee and Nicholas Sedlarik, Dakotah Hopkins, Cheyenne Sherman, and partner, Fayeann Hite, and her children and grandchildren whom they loved as “Papa Jim”. He was preceded in death by his Parents, wife Sharon, and brother in-law Jack Hunt.
