Obituary of Hazel Murray

Thank you Jesus for the gift of life given to Hazel Christine Doe Murray on September 6, 1916 and for welcoming her home on June 5, 2015. She was born at home in Linwood, Michigan to Andrew and Esther (Anschutz) Doe the 4th of seven children. The family moved to Flint, Michigan where Hazel graduated from Northern High School in 1934. She became a hair stylist and worked at Hillards in Flint until she married John Walter Murray II on November 7th, 1945. They moved into their home in Mt. Morris, Michigan where Hazel lived until her death. Hazel started Murray's Decorating Center in Mt. Morris in 1953 which later became known as Carpets by Murray and close in 2011. She built Hazel Park Apartments in Mt. Morris and Hazel Park Plaza a retail center in Clio, Michigan. She was a life-time member of Clio Cast and Crew and enjoyed contributing time and talent. Hazel attended the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Morris for 70 years. Her funeral service will be there on Thursday, June 11, 2015, visitation from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and funeral at 2:00 pm. In Lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Morris. Hazel had two children, MaryAnn (Ken) Gebhardt and John Walter Murray III; 7 grandchildren Teresa (Mark) Freeman, Tami (Scott) Trosien, Kim (Scott) Reinig, Matthew (Alisha) Gebhardt, Jennie (Chris) Riendeau, Dr. Cyndi (Don) Head and Ben (Katie) Murray; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters Janet (Jack) Zerull of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Esther Palmer of Easton, Maryland and beloved daughter-in-law for 18 years, Dee Smith. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband in 1980, her son in 2012, sisters Lucille Brohn, Ilene McCarroll and Inez Greer and brother Carl Doe. Thank you Jesus for your love and mercy and grace and eternal life. We have been blessed beyond measure.
