Obituary of Irene M. Williams (Ketterer)

Age 101 of Flint, died Sunday, May 31, 2015, at home. Funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Thursday, June 4, 2015, at St. Mark Lutheran Church. Pastor Gary Beck will officiate with burial to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services on Wednesday, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm. On Thursday, Irene will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be directed to St. Mark Lutheran Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Irene was born December 15, 1913, in Mayville, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Bertha (Brando) Schafer. She and Philip A. Ketterer were united in marriage and he preceded her in death in 1976. She would later marry Bertrand A. Ketterer, and he preceded her in death in 1983; and then she and Harold Williams were united in marriage, and he also preceded her in death in 2001. Irene was a member of St. Mark Lutheran for much of her life. She enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, crossword puzzles, fishing, camping and playing the organ. In 2014, at the age of 100, she was awarded an Honorary High School Diploma from Davison Community Schools. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Donna J. and husband, Conal "Speck" Reeves and Donald D. and wife, Nancy Ketterer; daughter-in-law, Caroline Ketterer Drennan; 23 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands; son Philip C. Ketterer; grandson, Michael Ketterer; three brothers and two sisters.
