Obituary of Edward Soper

Age 91, of Montrose, formerly of Mt. Morris died Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Fostrian Manor in Flushing. Funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Monday, May 18, 2015, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Genesee Township, with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Pastor Jon Gildner will officiate and graveside Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion # 158 and the VFW 1452. Family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services on Sunday from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Monday from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00. Edward was born in Saginaw, Michigan, on February 6, 1924, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Fern (Hazel) Soper. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Edward was united in marriage to Barbara Kusch in 1945. He went on to work for Buick Motor Division for 33 years, retiring in 1976. Edward was a member of the UAW # 599 and the Home Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and outdoors. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Linda and husband, Frank Burke and Edward and wife, Terrie Soper; grandchildren, Tina Soper, Debbie and husband, Mitch Hoffman, Leann and husband, Gary Houck, April and husband, Jason Laird, Willy Burke, Keith Burke, and Ann Cheezum; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Harold Soper and Jim Soper; and many nieces; nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara; two granddaughters, Lisa Schlosser and Kim Schlosser; and grandson, Kevin Neil Burke. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Staff of Fostrian Manor, especially, Diane and Theresa.
