Obituary of Audrey McKenzie

Age 88 of Burton, formerly of Mt. Morris, died on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Kith Haven Nursing Home in Flint. Funeral service will take place 1:30pm, Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Genesee Township. Rev. Jan Engler will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:30 pm. Memorial donations may be directed to the Genesee County Humane Society, envelopes are available at the funeral home. Audrey was born in Flint, Michigan, on December 6, 1926, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George and Beulah (Fillion) McKenzie. She is a 1945 graduate of Beecher High School. Audrey pursued a career in bookkeeping and worked for the Kresge and Kmart Corporation for 44 years, before retiring. She served as an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Morris, where she sang in the choir and volunteered in many ways. Audrey loved spending time with her family, reading, and spoiling her animals. She also enjoyed going to the casino, and hosting family parties. Left to cherish her memory are her nieces and nephew, Kathy and husband, Robin Clark, Jim McKenzie and Michelle Combs, and Joan McKenzie; and great-niece and nephew, Tammie Siequrist and Wyatt Wilkinson. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, George and Dolores McKenzie; and nephew Keith McKenzie. The family would like to thank the staff of Kith Haven and McLaren Hospice for the care given to Audrey.
