Diana L. (Korf) Kennard, age 81, of Vassar died Saturday, March 21, 2015 at McBrite Manor of Saginaw. The funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Friday, March 27, 2015, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Vassar. Diana’s family will be present to receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home – Vassar on Thursday, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. On Friday, Diana will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time the time of the service at 11:00 am. Pastor James Plocher will officiate with cremation to follow. A private burial of cremated remains will be held at a later in Riverside Cemetery.
Diana was born September 8, 1933, in Saginaw the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Richard and Martha (Abraham) Korf. Diana graduated from Michigan Lutheran Seminary. She married Lawrence A. Kennard on April 4, 1964, who preceded her in death on October 13, 2008. She worked for Agrico, and later in life delivered food for Meals-on-Wheels, a service of Human Development Commission. Diana enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, flower gardening, embroidering, baking, singing in the church choir, jigsaw puzzles, bird watching and playing with her cat.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Lynn and wife, Audrey Kennard, her daughter, Celest (Kennard) Roskiewicz; five grandchildren: Sarah, Mason, Rose, Matthew and Karina; two brothers: Richard and wife, Patti Korf; and Jerome and wife, Janet Korf; sister Gloria and husband, Patrick O’Conner; two sisters-in-law: Laurice Kennard and Gladys Wilber; and several nieces and nephews.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents and husband Lawrence.
