Obituary of William Evertt Rau

Age 63, died Saturday, March 21, 2015, in his home surrounded by family. Funeral will take place 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Martin Funeral Home, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Burial to follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm with a rosary at 6:00 pm on Tuesday. Contributions can be directed to Catholic Charities of Flint. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. William was born March 3, 1952, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Keith and Mavis (Van Sickle) Rau. He served for the United States Navy as an E-1 from 1970 to 1973. He later would become a driver for Catholic Charities. William enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and going to the casino. He will be greatly missed. Left to cherish his memory is daughter, Jennifer and husband, Tim Gifford; brother, Thomas Keith Rau; four sisters: Rebecca, Veronica, Roxanne and Doreen; grandchild, Dylan, two step-grandchildren, Calin and Drake; and several nieces and nephews. William was preceded in death by his parents, brother in law, Michael Bentley and sister Patricia Rau. Family would like to extend a thank you to little brother Tom for his love and care.
