Obituary of Alice Dorothy Herring

Of Grayling, Michigan, formerly of Mt. Morris, Michigan, age 93, died, Friday, January 16, 2015. Funeral Service will take place Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 1:00 pm at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. Pastor Gene Kelly will officiate with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Mercy Hospice in Grayling, Michigan. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Alice was born April 5, 1921, in Flint, Michigan, the Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burt and Mary (Vogt) White. She and Clifton Herring were united in marriage in 1937, sadly he preceded her in death in 1976. Alice worked for AC Spark Plug for 30 years before retiring. Alice belonged to the Moose Lodge in Florida and Krapohl Senior Center in Mt. Morris. In her spare time she enjoyed dancing, singing, soft ball, crocheting, crosswords, and solitaire. Alice was an active, spunky, and a kind hearted wife and mother. Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Judy Spencer, Betty Jo, and Cathy Blalock; brother, Burt White; step-sister, Jene Guyer; seven grandchildren, Hilary, Carrie, Cliff, Dave, Jim, and Joe; and several great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Richard Herring; grandson Ken and ten brothers and sisters.
