Obituary of Jerry Willis

Age 62, of Mt. Morris died Friday, December 12, 2014. The funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Thursday, December 18, 2014, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris, with cremation to follow. Jerry’s family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the Old Newsboys of Flint. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Jerry was born November 7, 1952, in Flint, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd and Betty (Reynolds) Willis. Jerry graduated from Elisabeth Ann Johnson High School in Mt. Morris, Class of 1970. Jerry proudly served in the United States Army until receiving his honorable discharge on June 19, 1974. He and Thelma were united in marriage in Las Vegas, Nevada, on April 12, 2005. Jerry worked for Buick for 31 years until his retirement in 2006 and was a long time member of UAW Local #599. Jerry currently worked as a transporter for the Flint Auto Auction for the past 6 years. In his free time Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing and reading. Left to cherish his memory are, his wife Thelma; three children: Kim and husband, Bill Whitehead, Kelli Willis, Karri and husband, Luke McLean; seven grandchildren: Hannah, Payton, Jacob, Emily, Camryn, Sommer and Kristal; mother, Betty Willis; two sisters Sherry Lynn and husband, Bob Johnson, Sally and husband, Ken Harrington; and many other family members and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his father Lloyd.
