Obituary of Richard Laurin

Age 61, of Clio died Friday, December 12, 2014, at his home. The funeral will take place 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Rev. Mike McCluskey will officiate with burial to follow in Thetford Township Cemetery. Richard's family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm; on Tuesday, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Richard was born June 8, 1953, in Flint, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Emmanuel and Marguerite (Gillard) Laurin. He attended St. Mary Catholic High School in Mt. Morris until their closing, graduating from Mt. Morris High School, Class of 1971. Richard proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam until receiving his honorable discharge. He married Nancy Fredell on May 30, 1998, in Clio. He worked as a crane operator for Canadian Northern, Grand Trunk Division. In his "spare time" Richard was an electrician, plumber and carpenter. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing, farming, shooting pool and traveling to Las Vegas. Left to cherish his memory are, wife Nancy; seven siblings: Bernadette and husband, Harold, Rita, David and wife, Mary Ellen, Michael and wife, Diane, Paul, Roberta, Regina and husband, Andy; two brothers-in-law: Louie, Tom and wife, Jen; several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Duane and Robert, and two brothers-in-law: Lyle and Jerry.
