Obituary of Norma Blandford

Norma Blandford, age 93, of Mt. Morris, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Fostrian Nursing Home. The funeral service will take place 1:00 pm, Thursday, December 11, 2014, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor David Burkett will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Norma’s family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. On Thursday, from 12:00 Noon until time of service at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers those desiring may consider memorial contributions to a charity of your choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Norma was born May 10, 1921, in Howell, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Harold and Loretta (Mealor) Esmond. She graduated from Mt. Morris High School, Class of 1939. She and Harry Blandford were united in marriage on March 20, 1948 in Mt. Morris. Sadly he preceded her in death on August 18, 1992. Norma worked for AC Spark Plug in Flint until retiring in 1974. She was a long time member of UAW local #651, Girl Scouts of America, Davison Country Club and the Red Hat Society. In her free time Norma loved spending time with her family and friends, golfing, bowling and traveling. Left to cherish her memory, two children: Doug (Claudia) Blandford and Colleen (David) Belanger; five grandchildren: Corey (Alison) Argentine, Kharissa Argentine, Nicholas (Sarah) Blandford, Troy (Jacquilyn) Belanger and Ryan (Dawnyale Smith) Seymour; six great-grandchildren: Cameron, Nathaniel, Hannah, Esmond, Avennell, Jacklynn and Isabelle; and many other family members and friends. Norma was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Norma’s family would like to extend a special thank you the entire staff at Heartland Hospice for their loving care.
