Obituary of Christopher Joseph Cherwinski

age 55, of Flushing, Michigan, went peacefully at home on Friday, December 5, 2014, surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Flushing, Rev. Fr. Paul Schwermer will officiate with burial to follow in St. Robert Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services on Monday, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. On Tuesday, Chris will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of Mass at 11:00 am. Memorial donations of a new unwrapped toy or a monetary contribution will be accepted at the funeral home and given to Chris’ favorite charity, Toys for Tots, in his honor. Chris enjoyed working with his hands and always had a project going. Chris enjoyed traveling and trying new things. He had a great work ethic, a unique sense of humor and a bigger heart than he wanted anyone to know! He leaves a wonderful and respected legacy for those that loved, admired and learned from him. Chris leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 34 years, Lisa (Hallwood) Cherwinski; daughter, Nicole and Mike Wing; sons, Anthony and wife, Brittany and Benjamin; grandsons, Braden and Evan Wing; mother, Rita Cherwinski; brothers, Bob, Jerry and Lana, Doug and Jill, Paul and Michelle; sisters, Judy and husband, Mike Ehrmantraut, Nancy and husband, Dennis Shannon, Beverly and husband, Charlie Calkins, Mary Ellen and husband, Terry Keys and Annette White; sister-in-law, Debbie Bauer and Eric; mother and father-in-law, Jack and LeRiene Hallwood; sisters-in-law, Vicki and husband, Don Laney, Buffy and husband, Ron Neifert; brother-in-law, John Hallwood; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Chris was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Cherwinski.
