Obituary of James "Jim" C. Netterfield Sr.

"Jim" age 75 of Flint, died Sunday, November 30, 2014, at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at Hopewell General Baptist Church 5162 N. Belsay Road Flint. Pastor Scott Southerland will officiate with cremation to follow. Private burial will take place at Tanner Cemetery. Family will receive friends at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services on Sunday, December 7, 2014, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Monday, 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. On Tuesday, Jim will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be directed to the family, so they can establish a scholarship in Jim's name.
Jim was born January 5, 1939, in Wolf Lake, Indiana, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hugh and Maxine Helen (Clear) Netterfield. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Jim married Karen Westin on December 14, 1962, in Flint. They owned and operated Jack's Netterfield Concessions, until their retirement in 2013. He was a member of the NICA and MFEA.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Karen; son, Jimmy Netterfield; daughter, Tami and husband, Luke Prost, son-in-law, Scott Southerland; grandchildren, Michael, Austin and wife, Hannah, Brittani, Shelby and husband, Anthony, Emily, and Cody; great-grandchildren, Liam and ("Baby D" on the way); sister, Nancy and husband, Tom Travis; brother, Gary Schmidt; sisters-in-law, Vida Brown and Carol Westin; and many nieces; nephews; cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Pam Southerland.
