Obituary of Barbara Rita Scott

Age 90 of Devine, Texas,passed away at her son's home on Saturday, September 27, 2014. Barbara was born December 23, 1923, in DesMoines, Iowa, to Edward and Hadly Yamen. She met Bruce Scott in Detroit during WWII where they were both working at a Defense Plant. They were married on February 25, 1944, in Royal Oak, Michigan. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1987. Barbara worked at the former Collins Shoe Store in Caro and retired from the Caro State Hospital (Caro Center) in 1980. She was a member of the State Employees Retirement Association. Barbara enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, playing cards, crocheting and traveling. Barbara was of the Catholic Faith. She is survived by her three children: Delores (Thomas) Kuehnemund of Shreveport, Louisiana, Larry (Jane) Scott of Fairgrove, Michigan and TOm Scott of Devine, Texas. Three grandchildren: Christopher Kuehnemund, Elizabeth (John) Hughes and Katie (Mark) Wilson. Five great-grandchildren: Olivia Kuehnemund, Benjamin, Hannah and Samuel Hughes and Brooke Wilson. Besides her husband, Bruce, Barbara was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 1 sister: George, Joseph, Joffer, and Francis Yamen and Josephine Lane. Funeral service will take place at the Martin Funeral Home in Fairgrove on Saturday, October 4, 2014, at 11:00 am with Reverand Cameron Steele of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro officiating. Burial will follow at the Brookside Cemetery in Fairgrove. Visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday and then on Saturday from 10 am until the time service at 11 am. Memorials may be given to the Shriner's Children's Hospital, St. Paul Lutheran Church Parking Lot Fund or the donor's choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
