Obituary of Marjorie Swaffer

Age 85, died Monday, July 28, 2014, at home surrounded by her family. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Friday, August 1, 2014, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Vassar. Pastor James Plocher will officiate with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home on Thursday, from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm. On Friday, Marjorie will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be directed to St. Luke's Vassar or VNA Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Marjorie was born May 18, 1929, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell and Lanora (Hilgendorf) Blue. She and George Swaffer were united in marriage on January 8, 1949. She worked for Walbro for many years, before retiring. Marjorie enjoyed gardening, and quilting.
Left to cherish her memory are two children, Joanie and husband, Riley Petty and Dan and wife, Linda Swaffer; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Dale and wife, Geri Blue; sister, Dawn and husband, Dan Lingenfelter; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George and grandson, Riley Petty Jr.
The family would like to thank VNA Hospice, Pastor Plocher, Pastor White and her son-in-law, Riley for the love and care given to Marjorie.
