Obituary of Evelyn L. Slayton

Age 84, of Mt. Morris died Monday, July 28, 2014 at her home. The funeral service will take place 11:00 am Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Pastor Jerome Taylor will officiate with cremation to follow. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm then on Saturday from 10:00 am until time of service. Evelyn was born on June 9, 1930, in Mt. Morris, Michigan the daughter of Emerson and Elva (Brickner) Tufford. She and Robert B. Slayton Jr. were united in marriage on November 13, 1954 in Mt. Morris, Michigan. Sadly, he preceded her in death on June 22, 1996. Evelyn worked for Fisher Body for 30 years. In her free time she enjoyed playing Bingo, reading, admiring her flower garden and spending time with her family. Left to cherish her memory are children, Robert B. Slayton III, Eugene David Slayton and Linda Louise Slayton; brother, Harold and wife, Joanne Tufford; grandchildren, Dwayne Bachard, Anthony Slayton, Steven Slayton, Sarah Evelyn Slayton and Jason Bachard; 4 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Carl and wife, Sandy Tufford; brother, Orrie Tufford and sister, Donna Girard.
