Obituary of Joyce Russ

Of Clio, age 82, died Tuesday, May 21, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center. The funeral service will take place Saturday, May 24, 2014, at 1:00 pm at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris with burial to follow in Mt. Morris Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 23, 2014, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm then on Saturday, from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Genesee County Humane Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Joyce was born November 27, 1931, in Flint, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George and Avis (Wain) Witte. She and Robert Stanley Russ were united in marriage December 15, 1980, in Las Vegas, Nevada. In her free time she enjoyed working in her flower garden and watching birds in her backyard. She was an animal lover and donated often to the Humane Society and other charities. She also treasured spending time with her family and friends. Joyce leaves to cherish her memory five children, Cynthia Kurtz and husband, Jerry Lokken, Michael Kurtz, William Kurtz, Joseph and wife Debi Kurtz, and Constance Kurtz and husband, Marty Mitchell, 3 step children; 19 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; brothers, Lance and Bruce; sisters, Patricia and Michelle; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Stanley Russ; and sister, Christine.
