Obituary of Robert "Bob" Emmett Hurley

Age 46 died Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at home surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am, Saturday, May 24, 2014, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris, Rev. Fr. Tom Nenneau will officiate with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services on Thursday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and Friday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Friday evening, family, friends and parish will gather at 6:00 pm to pray the Rosary, followed by a Celebration of Bob's Life. On Saturday, Bob will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be directed to the Charity of your Choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Bob was born December 13, 1967, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of James and Janet (Foley) Hurley. His family moved to the Flint area and he was educated locally, graduating from Powers Catholic High School in 1986, and going on to graduate from the University of Michigan Flint in 1991.
Bob's charismatic personality led him to a career in sales. He was a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and played travel softball for many years. Bob enjoyed life with his family and friends, traveling to Ireland, and cheering on the Fighting Irish and The Detroit Tigers.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Jim and Janet; sister, Theresa Hurley and her children, Elizabeth and Brennan Cumby; sister, Mary Patricia Hurley and Todd Emery; former wife and dear friend, Dyanna Hurley; daughters, Morgan and Lindsey Selders; several aunts; uncles; cousins; friends; and his Brothers from Sigma Pi.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Norm and Irene Foley and Jerry and Nora Hurley; and several aunts; and uncles.
