Obituary of Phyllis Lorene Roth

Roth, Phyllis Lorene (Cheshier) of Clio, died Friday, January 3, 2014, at home, with family at her side. Funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Mt. Morris Church of Christ. Pastor Brad McFaul will officiate with cremation to follow. Family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services on Tuesday, from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm. On Wednesday, Phyllis will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be directed to the Mt. Morris Church of Christ. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Phyllis was born July 26, 1948, in Newport, Arkansas, the beloved daughter of RJ and Lorene (Nally) Cheshier. The family moved to Mt. Morris, Michigan, where she and her brother, Dwight attended school. From her earliest school years and throughout her life Phyllis made many, many friendships that continue to this day. Phyllis and her BFF's Connie, Peggy and Donna danced to American Band Stand everyday after school. Phyllis married John H. Roth on December 28, 1976. Their blended family includes her sons Brian and Jeremy Johnson and John's son, Ryan Roth. Their fourth son, John Phillip completed their family. Together, Phyllis and John raised their four sons in the Mt. Morris area among family and friends. The extended family spent many happy times at the cottage on Floyd Lake. Phyllis was a devoted wife and mother and a tireless worker. She had a special knack of making everyone feel welcome and important. Phyllis retired from Toys R Us in 2001, with 20 years of service. She and John have operated their business, Auto Depot, for the past 12 years. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 37 years, John; four sons, Brian Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Ryan Roth and John Roth; five grandchildren, Mikel Johnson, Brent Roth, Aaron Johnson, Jessica Johnson and Rylyn Roth; mother, Lorene Cheshier; mother-in-law, Jean Roth; brother, Michael and wife, Cindy Cheshier; brother-in-law, Robert Roth; and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, RJ Cheshier and father-in-law, Kenneth Roth.
