Age 94, of Flushing, formerly of Flint, died Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Heartland Health Care - Fostrian in Flushing. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Monday, May 3, 2010 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home with burial in Montrose Township Cemetery. JohnAaas family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again on Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to Heartland Hospice Services in Flint. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
John was born May 3, 1915 in Detroit the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Lidia (Yoos) Suley. He attended and graduated from Montrose High School with the Class of 1933 and was a letterman throughout high school. He and Evelyn Dake were united in marriage in 1937 in LaGrange, Indiana. JohnAaas career path would lead him to GM in 1933, where he started as a test driver at the proving grounds. He would go on to graduate from the Gleason School of Gearing in Rochester, New York and retire from GM as BuickAaas Senior Gear Manufacturing Engineer in 1974 after 41 years of service. He was also BuickAaas representative to the GM Gear Axle Committee. In his free time, he loved sports Aaa both playing and watching, especially golf, bowling and football.
Left to cherish his memory are his nieces and nephews; Elaine Dukes of Mt. Morris, Jana Kessler of Rogers, Arkansas, Patrick Suley of Dallas, Texas, Nelson and wife Rosemary Dake of Montrose, Kevin and wife Marilyn Dake of Flushing, Norma Orton of Davison and Jim and wife Carol Herrick of Millington, many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews and his special friend, Maxine Jago of Flint.
John was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Randy and his brothers and sisters.
