Obituary of Earsel Smith

Earsel "Smitty" Smith, age 59, of Mt. Morris, died Monday, January 6, 2014, at his home. The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Friday, January 10, 2014, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services, in Mt. Morris, with burial to follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Smitty's family will be present at the funeral home on Thursday to receive friends from 12:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association. Smitty was born August 9, 1954, in Flint, Michigan. He is the son of Earsel and Maureene (Owens) Smith. He graduated from Elisabeth Ann Johnson High School, Class of 1972. Smitty proudly served in the United States Army for 3 years until receiving his honorable discharge. Smitty worked for Buick for 25 years until his retirement in 2004. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, was an avid golfer, enjoyed watching sports and loved cooking and eating food (food critic.) Left to cherish his memory are, daughter Traci (Mark) Kaiser; three grandchildren, Mercedes "Sadie," Tylor "Ty-dog" and Lexi "Boo" Kaiser; three siblings, Jo (Dave) Prevost, Sheila (Scott) Sauve and Bruce Smith; eight special nieces and nephews that are dear to his heart, David "Moe", Dalana "Lou" (Mike), Ava, Tina, Jason, Chad, Jordan and Andrew; former wife Kathy Morrison; special friends, Darrel (Carla) White and many other friends. Earsel was preceded in death by his parents.
