Obituary of Salvatore Licavoli

Of Millington, age 88, died Monday, May 10, 2010 at St. MaryAaas Hospital, in Saginaw. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00am, Friday, May 14, 2010 at the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Vassar. Rev Fr. John Ederer and Rev. Fr. William Bonnici will officiate with burial to follow in Millington Twp. Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar on Wednesday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, and Thursday from 11:00am to 8:00pm. On Thursday evening, family friends, and parish will gather at the funeral home to pray the Rosary at 6:00pm. On Friday morning, Sam will be taken to church to lie in state, from 10:00am until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church Building Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Sam was born June 27, 1921 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter and Julia (Favazza) Licavoli. Sam and Catherine Candela were united in marriage in 1944, and she preceded him in death, in 1966. He and Violet M. Glynn were united in marriage June 27, 1970 in Millington. Sam worked as a painter for Millington Truck Body Company, for 30 years, retiring in 1983. Sam leaves to cherish his memory his wife Violet, six children, Frank Salvatore and wife Angela Licavoli, Peter M. and wife Mary Jo Licavoli, Vincent and wife Brenda Licavoli, Julia Kay Licavoli-Rohrmann and husband Rodney Rohrmann, Sam and wife Luann Licavoli, and Thomas Patrick Licavoli and wife Terry Kay Barton, two step-children, Charles Glynn, and Donna Glynn, 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Marion Dundas, and Rosie Dimercurio, numerous special nieces, nephews, family and friends, and his dog, Mickey. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Catherine, one great-granddaughter, Jazamine, two brothers, Mike and Dominic, and two sisters, Josephine, and Antoinette.
