Obituary of Robert Arnold Buys

Of Flushing, age 83, died Saturday, May 15, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at the Colonial Hills Baptist Church. Pastor Doug Klein will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm and on Tuesday from 11:00am until 2:00pm and 4:00pm until 8:00pm. On Wednesday, Bob will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Colonial Hills Baptist Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Robert was born October 5, 1926 in Mt Morris, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy and Della (Arnold) Buys. He and Charlotte Shoens were united in marriage September 30, 1950. Bob worked for Carman Ainsworth School District for 30 years before retiring in 1988. Bob leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 60 years, Charlotte; daughter, Theresa and husband, David Clingerman; brother, Ralph and wife, Barbara; sister, Sharon Hunt; twelve grandchildren, David, Steven, Bobby, Megan, Collin, George, Ashley, Ariel, Kimberlee, TJ, Lucas, and Noah; brother-in-law, Claude and wife, Diane Shoens; sister-in-law, Nancy Woodbeck; many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Ann Petherbridge; and brother-in-law, Richard Woodbeck.
