Obituary of Joseph Boughner

Of Clio, age 82, lost his brave battle with cancer, Thursday, May 20, 2010 at his home. The funeral service will take place 1:00pm, Monday, May 24, 2010 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor Warner Criner will officiate with burial to follow in Thetford Township Cemetery. Joe's family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, from 5:00pm to 9:00pm, Sunday, from 1:00pm to 9:00pm. and on Monday, from 12:00 noon until time of service at 1:00pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the family fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Joseph "Joe" was born July 25, 1927 in St. Clair, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. James and Margaret (Cork) Boughner. He and Edna L. Smith were united in marriage September 16, 1952. Joe worked for Buick for 30 years before retiring, and was a member of UAW Local #599. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII until receiving his Honorable Discharge. In his free time, Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing, John Deer Tractors, and playing euchre at the familyAaas cabin in Lewiston. Joseph is survived by his wife of 57 years, Edna, five children; Shirley (Fred) Hoard of Applegate, Joseph, Jr. (Rachel) of Clio, Ronald (Laura) of Linden, Terry (Jen) of Lewiston and Dale of Clio; one sister, Dorothy Smith of Croswell; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and friends. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Charles, Lawrence "Jack", Floyd, Clare and Lee, and two sisters, Jane Wagner and Edith Dennis.
