Obituary of Wilson G. Sidwell

Of Clio, formerly of Lapeer, age 81, died Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Avalon Hospice. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Mt. Morris. Pastor Doug Klein will officiate with burial to follow in Christian Memorial Cultural Center Aaa Cemetery, in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Family will receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2:00pm to 5:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm. On Wednesday, Sid will be taken to church where he will lie in state from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Wilson was born December 28, 1928 in Chester, Pennsylvania, the son of Mr. and Mrs. David and Mildred (Gregory) Sidwell. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return, he went to work for Pontiac Motor Division in Pontiac, where he worked as a supervisor for 32 years, retiring in 1980. He and Jackie Brokaw were united in marriage April 26, 1984, in Mt. Morris. Sid leaves to cherish his memory his wife Jackie, four step sons; Terry and wife Sue Brokaw, Jerry Brokaw, Tom Brokaw, and Sam Brokaw, and seven step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
