Obituary of George Edward Sharp

Of Mt. Morris, age 86, died Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Maple Woods Manor. The funeral service will take place 1:00pm, Monday, June 21, 2010 at the Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Mt. Morris. Pastor Doug Klein will officiate with burial to follow in Pinegrove Cemetery. GeorgeAaas family will be present to receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris on Sunday, from 2:00pm until 8:00pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to Colonial Hills Baptist Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. George was born December 28, 1923 in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel and Sarah (Livingston) Sharp. He and Rita were united in marriage in June 22, 1974 in Flint. He spent 32 years with General Motors, UAW Local 659, before retiring in 1987. George leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Rita Sharp; children Loanne and husband Mark Culver, Laura and her husband Alan Dodds, and Velna Sharp; step-children Michelle Voorheis and Mike Ellard; brother Tom Sharp; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents, and his first spouse Madeline.
