Of Mt. Morris, age 80, died Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Fostrian Manor. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00am, Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Francis Faraci will officiate with cremation to follow. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00pm until 4:00pm and from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. On Tuesday morning, Francis will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00am until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the St. Mary Catholic Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Francis was born June 6, 1930 in Flint, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis and Dorothy (O'Toole) Smith. He and Arlone L. Dickman were united in marriage on July 16, 1960. Francis was a sportsman who liked to hunt and fish. He was a Mt. Morris Township Police Officer for 12 years and then continued his career with Buick in Factory #25 for 43 years, until he retired in 1993. He was a good father and husband and will be greatly missed. Francis leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 49 years, Arlone; three children, Sheila Mills, Drew and wife, Linda Thorsby, and Dianne Smith-Hall; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Dayle and husband, Kenneth Pifer; many nieces and nephews; and special dog, Knight. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Doris White. Friends may share a memory with the family at the funeral home, church or online at www.martinfuneralhome.com.
