Obituary of Richard Jay Fisher

Of Vassar, age 76, died Sunday, July 18, 2010. The funeral service will take place 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar. Pastor Max McCloud will officiate with burial to follow in Tuscola Township Cemetery. Family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends 3:00 until 9:00 PM Tuesday and 10:00 AM until time of service on Wednesday. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to American Heart Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Richard was born November 1, 1933 in Flint, MI the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert and Ortha (Osmun) Fisher. He and Janet Thompson were united in marriage January 22, 1954. She preceded him in death September 26, 1995. Richard retired in 1996 from the City of Frankenmuth DPW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, fur trapping, spending time with his family, sports, spoiling grandchildren. Surviving are his children, Hugh and wife Devra Fisher of Vassar, Tracey and husband Bill Niedrich of Birch Run, Richard Fisher Jr. and Karen Fisher and Jeanne Zarko and Leo Zarko all of Vassar; grandchildren, Heather and Greg Reinke, Nickolas Fisher, Jeremy Niedrich, Leo R. Zarko, Richard and Candace Fisher III, Zachariah Fisher and Amanda Niedrich; 8 great grandchildren and another baby due in October; very special companion, Joyce Sparpanic; sisters, Genevieve Kilbourne, Donna Kauffman and Unabelle Dye; many nieces, nephews and loved ones. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Janet Thompson, 2 sisters, Jessie Grainger and Bessie Robinson and brother, William Fisher.
