Obituary of Joy Ida Nelson

Age 87, of Mt. Morris died Saturday, May 3, 2014. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Martin Funeral, Cremation &Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor Fred Smith officiating with burial to follow in Gracelawn Cemetery in Flint. Joy's family will be present at the funeral home on Tuesday, to receive friends from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm. On Wednesday, from 9:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Heartland Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Joy was born April 25, 1927, in Flint, the daughter of the Mr. & Mrs. Earl Allen and Anna Dee (Sorrell) Hart. She married Edward Nelson on February 16, 1946. Sadly he preceded her in death April 30, 1989. Joy enjoyed spending time with family and friends especially, listening to and going to see country music concerts. Left to cherish her memory are, six children, Edward and wife, Jeanette Nelson, Gloria and husband, Frank Rozsa, Leslie and wife, Doris Nelson, Rodney and wife, Polly Nelson, Vicky and husband, Keith Fritzler, and Gary Nelson and wife, Dawn Johnson; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; two sisters; Wilmo James and Jacquelyn and husband, Gilbert Biechler. Joy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; great-granddaughter Jessica; three sisters, Beatrice Raymond, Margaret Payne and Rosemary Monroe; three brothers, Kenneth, Max and Earl Jr., Hart.
