Obituary of Gary Fruchey

Of Akron, age 65, died Thursday, September 9, 2010 at his home. The funeral service will take place at 1:00pm, Monday, September 13, 2010 at the Martin Funeral Home in Fairgrove. Pastor Dave Burkett will officiate with burial to follow in Brookside Cemetery with military honors. Family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00pm until 8:00pm and then on Monday from 10:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to the Fairgrove VFW Post #7486 or American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Gary was born March 6, 1945 in Toledo, Ohio the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan and Jacqueline (Vernier) Fruchey. He and Gloria Czelada were united in marriage August 17, 1968. Gary was in the insurance business for many years and retired from the Bay City Times in 2007. In addition to spending time with his grandkids, he enjoyed working outside, gardening, bowling, and playing card games such as euchre and pinochle. He was also quite the history buff, which he shared with his grandson, Dustin. Gary leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 42 years, Gloria; daughters, Christina Grillon and partner, Kurt Wiesen of Henderson, Kentucky and Candace and husband, Kurt Rinke of Springboro, Ohio; four grandchildren, Dustin, Nicole, and Brooke Grillon, and Noah Rinke; step-grandchildren, Lauren, Nick, and Haley Rinke; three siblings, Fred and Carl Fruchey, and Nancy Roche. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Margaret Fruchey.
