Obituary of Dennis Stanley Bonkowski

Of City of Vassar, age 60, died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Covenant Health Care- Cooper. The Mass of Catholic Burial will take place Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Bob Byrne will officiate with cremation to follow. Dennis will be taken to church on Tuesday, to lie in state from 11:00am until time of Mass at 1:00pm. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the church. Dennis was born October 8, 1949 in Detroit, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley and Betty Jane (Ankofski) Bonkowski. He and Mary Ann Himmelbrand were united in marriage September16, 2001. Dennis proudly served in the United States Air Force for 20 years before receiving his Honorable Discharge from Moody Air Force Base in Valdosta, Georgia in 1989. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, reading military books and playing Ruinscape. Dennis leaves to cherish his memory his two daughters; Michelle and husband Chris Mistretta and Melanie and husband Charles Quitter; four grandchildren; Billy, Justin, Philip and Johnny and two brothers; Mark and Eric Bonkowski. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Ann and his sister Bonnie Bonkowski.
