Obituary of Robert Smith

Of Vassar, age 81, died Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Monday, October 11, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Vassar. Rev. David Somers will officiate with burial to follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, October 9, 2010 from 5:00pm until 8:00, on Sunday from 1:00pm until 5:00pm, and then on Monday from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Robert was born April 2, 1929 in Colwood, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Myrtle (Cross) Smith. He and Isabelle Green were united in marriage June 17, 1950. Robert loved when his family was all together. He will be remembered for being a family man. Robert leaves to cherish his memory his best pal; Patricia; six children, Lee and wife, Betty, Larry, Lynn and wife, Tina, Mark, Kay and husband, Jim, and Karen; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; sister, Elaine; sister-in-law, Helen; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 50 years, Isabelle; ten siblings; grandson, Adrian; and great-grandson, Hunter.
