Of Clio, age 55, died Thursday, October 7, 2010 at home. The funeral service will take place 4:00pm, Sunday, October 10, 2010 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor David Burkett will officiate with Graveside Military Honors at Flint Memorial Park. Philip's family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, from 1:00pm until 8:00pm and on Sunday, 1:00pm until time of service at 4:00pm.
Philip was born June 24, 1955 in Goodrich, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. George and Flora (Alexander) Kirby. He and Linda Thompson the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darwin and Mary Thompson were united in marriage in Flint on December 26, 1981. Philip worked for Buick for 23 years before retiring in 2000 and was a member of Local UAW #599 and Auto City Eagles Post #5725. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting and fishing.
Philip leaves to cherish his memory, wife Linda; two daughters; Rebecca Kirby and Rachel (Buddy) McClelland, one granddaughter, Sumaya McClelland, two sisters; Linda Crisco and Judy (Don) Weber, three brothers; George (Teresa) Kirby II, Mark Kirby and Daniel Kirby, brother-in-law, Michael (Theresa) Thompson, two sisters-in-law; Brenda Kirby and Rebecca (Brian) Koboldt, hunting buddy and very close friend, Jim Vernier and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Homer and David and brother-in-law, Bob Crisco.
