I have so many great memories of Uncle Lymen. Mostly of his gentle and kind spirit with everyone. I always thought he was one of the handsomest men I ever saw, as is Uncle Hugh and Uncle Oscar. Mostly I remember his care for my mother, Inez Tipton Graves. He was always concerned about her and tried to help her in so many ways. She certainly would tell you if she was here that he was the greatest brother any sister could ever have. They are together now I am sure, in that wonderful place of the redeemed I can remember instances of asking Uncle Lymen to trust Christ as Savior and Lord. That's what we are to do you know, lead people, friends, loved ones and even our enemies to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him." 1 Corinthians 2:9 In the wonderful memory of Uncle Lymen Benton Tipton, a real man man's man on the outside and a gentle man on the inside. I salute you!

I was deeply saddened to hear the news about Uncle Lymen. Reading some of the stories others have shared made me smile because they were things that only Uncle Lymen would say: "Hello Mr. Suitcase!" I have so many wonderful memories of his visits back to Tennessee. As kids, he would lift us up high above his head and bump our heads against the ceiling. And I loved that he loved taking me and my grandmother Inez to the Pioneer House on Alcoa Highway for a family-style meal. And he was always so thoughtful (and generous!) at birthdays and graduations. I also remember how it seemed like he was driving a shiny new Buick every time he came to town, and how my grandmother used to tease him his feet hanging off the end of the guest bed. Uncle Lymen was a gentle, giant among men, and I know he will be missed by all.

How do I express a lifetime of love for a man who was so dear me? As a little girl,my Uncle Lymen was such a hero to me..a giant of a man and so handsome and imposing with his uniform on. When he would pick me up, I thought I was going to the\
sky.He was a gentle soul and so loved by everyone. When he would come home, everyone\
in Louisville wanted to see him and he tried to visit all the family and friends he could. He never missed calling me on my birthday. How I will miss that soft sweet voice and always saying how much he loved us. Heaven is blessed with his presence...I know Mama, Daddy, and esp. Ray were there to welcome him home along with his other siblings. He will be so very missed but I know that I will see him again. All my precious memories of him will forever be treasured in my heart.

What a man! One of this country's truly dedicated military heroes and equal to that a truly great man. A gentle giant of a man who had a ready smile and wink for everyone. I will miss you and your friendship and your military salute when we discussed the military. God Bless you. Thank you for your service to this country.\

You will be missed so much, Bob. We fondly recall our visits to Georgia and your visits here to Pennsylvania. We still laugh when we think of your using a flashlight to find your way around the house in the dark, after everyone had gone to bed. Once, you stubbed your toe on a tool box and said "Excuse me, Mr. Toolbox". We laughed so hard, you didn't know we were all still awake. I will buy a truckload of lottery tickets in your name. If I win, we will split the winnings just as we always agreed to do. (We just never won). I will miss you dearly. Rest in peace.
