Obituary of Loydine Drake

Of Mt. Morris, age 86, died Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Avalon Hospice. Cremation has occurred. The memorial service will take place 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor David Burkett will officiate. Family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 from 11:00am until the time of service at 2:00pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Genesee Rescue Squad. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Loydine was born August 11, 1924 in Flint, Michigan, a twin daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd and Cecil (Gaffney) Darby. She and Ortt Drake were united in marriage October 13, 1945 at the Mt. Morris Methodist Church. Loydine played professional softball for the Chicago Chicks, was a professional cake decorator, and was a dispatcher for the Genesee Rescue Squad. She was a sweet, dear ladyAaaa loving mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed. Loydine leaves to cherish her memory, husband of 65 years, Ortt; two sons, William and wife, Anne and Kenneth and wife, Janis; six grandchildren, Wendy and husband, Jade Harlett, Heather and husband, Andy Heins, Brita and husband, Travis Ensey, Aaron and wife, Kristen Drake, Ryan and wife, Sarah Drake, and Justin Drake; six great-grandchildren, Mckinley, Drake, Zach, Andrew, Matthew, and Kayden; twin sister, Lorraine and husband, Robert Smith; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Dale and wife, Dorothy Darby, Fred and wife, Grace Darby, and Clare Darby.
