Obituary of Harold Owen Boyd

Of Mt. Morris, age 95, died Monday, February 14, 2011 at Brians House Hospice. The funeral service will take place, 1:00pm Friday, February 18, 2011 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Rev. James Montney will officiate with burial to follow in Mt. Morris Cemetery, with Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post # 158. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and on Friday, from 12:00noon until time of service at 1:00pm. Harold was born August 12, 1915 in Carpenter, South Dakota the son of Mr. and Mrs. Omar and Edna (Davis) Boyd. He and Mae C. Serven were united in marriage June 12, 1937 in Mt. Morris. Harold proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked for General Motors for 30 years, and was a member of the UAW. Harold leaves to cherish his memory, wife of 73 years, Mae, two daughters, Marjorie and husband Patrick Wonch, and Patti Whitman, nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, one brother, Bernard, and two sisters, Mildred and Margaret, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Tom, and five brothers.
