Obituary of George W. Massey

Of Clio, age 84, went to dance in heaven on Saturday, March 12, 2011. The funeral service will take place 11:00am, Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor Eldon Busenitz and Pastor Jim Harvey will officiate with burial to follow in West Vienna Township Cemetery. George's family will be present at the Miles Martin Funeral Home on Tuesday, to receive friends from 11:00am to 8:00pm, Wednesday, from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Avalon Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. George "Geo" was born February 22, 1927 in St. Ignace, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Emma (St. Onge) Massey. He and Lorna Thayer were united in marriage February 3, 1951 in Flint. She preceded him in death on February 15, 2001. George worked for General Motors for 31 years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of UAW Local # 591, Michigan United Conservation Club, and Sault Ste. Marie Chippewa. George enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing cards, hunting and fishing, dancing, and playing with his loyal friend, Skippy. George leaves to cherish his memory, five children; Ralph Massey, Robert and wife, Sandy Massey, Jane and husband, David Crane, Kelly and husband Mark Jenkins and Larry and wife, Kari Massey, seven grandchildren; Mikeal, Jeff, Justin, Melissa, Brandon, Laura, Lea, three great-grandchildren; Mya, Caleb, Tristian and many siblings, nieces, nephews and friends and his best and loyal friend, Skippy. George was preceded in death by his wife, Jo, and grandson, Mikeal.
