Obituary of Donn E. Peel

Of Mt. Morris, age 82, died Friday, March 18, 2011 at Hurley Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 1:00pm, Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Chaplin Goodman Cox will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park, with military honors. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 from 9:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers please direct memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Donn was born September 5, 1928 in Flint, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius and Suzie (Norton) Peel. Donn joined the United States Army and served during the Korean War for 4 years, as a cook. Later, he owned and operated Donn's Northwest Grill and Catering for 35 years. Donn was an avid sports fan, which he shared with his grandson, Jon. Donn is survived by his children, Rhonda and husband, David Jones, Donn and wife, Cindy Peel, Renee Peel and Brad Whalen, David and wife, Crystal Peel, and Dan Peel and Sandra Dart; twelve grandchildren; one sister, Elenore Allen; two brothers, Neil and wife, Helen Peel and Robert Peel; and several nieces and nephews. He preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brothers, Martin and Nelson Peel.
